Three
bedrooms, on two floors (plus
two convertible sofas in the vaulted
cantina below with private
entrance and bath.) Four baths — two
with spectacular views — and a hydraulic massage
tub on the
top floor.
The arched stone
stairways of Castellino Lucardo wind upward through four stories
filled with antiques. Its private access road
starts from a vaulted subterranean
cantina banquet hall and ends in a tower room beneath massive chestnut
beams.
All the rooms, including the three, centrally
air-conditioned bedrooms with chestnut parquet floors, are wired
for internet satellite communications, telephone, access to international
TV broadcasting, and an individually-controlled, high fidelity
sound system. Exterior openings are wired into a central security
system with direct connections to the local police. |

The
windows on every floor (including from two of the bathrooms) command
spectacular views.
A heating system warms the floors of every
room. It is fed from solar panels hidden behind the wall leading
into the garden. A gas-fired furnace backs up the solar-powered heating.
The site is so high and the air so clear and cool that the central
air-conditioning system is seldom used even in the summer . |
